Woojin Choi is a 25 year old South Korean tattoo artist who does amazing detailed tattoo's. He was 21 years old when he first tried to learn to tattoo. After going to Thailand again to get more experience he trained and was much better. He actually was caught once by the police because he didn't know that tattooing is illegal in Korea. After that he left Korea and built most of his fame on social media. His art/ tattoo's make me inspired because they're are beautiful and detailed. The 2 that draws my attention are:

The most helpful warmup was/ is probably the sign language hands because it helped me draw something that’s not based off of a picture. The most helpful warmup during this unit was probably both the value scale and the pen cubes. The pen cubes really helped me think of different ways to show different ‘colors’ or shades in the pen drawing. The value scale helped me see the different shades that I can use.
Composition: the way in which a whole or mixture is made up. Value: the lightness or darkness of tones or colors. Pros and Cons: pen- pro: you had multiple patterns you could do to make it look different (cross hatching, stippling, etc.) con: it take a long time to complete if you do stippling and if you mess up you have to, most likely, start over. pencil- pro: if you mess up it erases much easier and you can control how dark or light you shade something. con: if you make too dark of a line you can’t erase it and it’ll stand out. charcoal- pro: if you mess up, make to dark of a line or make a line in the wrong spot, you can blend it in to the background. con: it’s very messy. My piece shows off the theme of line because I use a lot of lines to make individual things of tall grass and the water waves. I think the best part is probably the grass. although I messed up cutting it, it still turned out good. I’m surprised that each one showed up. This definitely didn’t come out how I wanted it to and if I could do it again I would. I would change how I did everything. I messed up and carved the sky, forgetting that I had to carve the things I wanted to be white. Also how I did the water. I drew it out good but forgot that I wanted it to be white. Lastly I made a hole in the skit because I carved too deep. I didn’t know how far we had to carve and I got distracted and kept carving in the same spot.
I have plans to make a rose on the top of the lid to make a knob. Also to finish the swirls. I find it really difficult to try and make the swirls the same width. also after this when I did the rose it was super hard. I find I did the lid really good because I made it fit perfect. A lot has definitely changed from the last time. I've painted and glazed it and added the rose. I find the lock part of it, seen in the first picture. I would definitely change how I did the rose. Also the color of the swirls.
The best warm up for me was the blending one. It helped me do the sky and the sunset. I find this place really important to me because my friends and I, back in New York, use to go here and run around. Also sometimes we would watch the sunset. The sky was a really big challenge. I found it really hard to try and blend it out. I feel like I did really good on the rocks and the grass/ greenery. I painting the sky probably like 5 times with 5 different shades
